Where to Watch New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Connecticut for 2016/2017

 

The holidays are a great time to reconnect with the people you love the most. If you want to enter the year having a great time with friends and family, Connecticut has a lot to offer. If you'll be in the state for New Year's, here are some fireworks attractions that you won't want to pass up.

 

First Night Hartford

This event is ideal for families who want to spend the new year together. There are two fireworks shows (at 6pm and midnight), and in between shows, you can explore all the other attractions Bushnell Park has to offer. The Charter Oak Cultural Center is an entertaining and educational attraction, and Hartford City Hall and State House square are some of the best places to learn more about the history of the city of Hartford and the state of Connecticut. You can also visit Butler McCook House and Garden for a samurai demonstration at 3pm on New Year's Eve and enjoy face painting and ice skating at Bushnell Park until 1am New Year's Day.

 

Connecticut State Capitol

The state capitol is one of the best places to watch a beautiful fireworks display on New Year's Eve, The beautiful backdrop of the capitol building makes the fireworks even more enchanting. There are also several restaurants and shopping attractions nearby, so you can take in the beauty of the city before the fireworks finale.

 

Elizabeth Park

Elizabeth Park is another wonderful place to see the New Year's fireworks show. The park is also home to the oldest rose garden in Connecticut, so you can stroll through the park with the one you love while you wait for the fireworks. Elizabeth Park is also located near the Governor's Mansion and there are more than 102 acres of plants and greenhouses on site so you can enjoy the natural beauty of the city. The chrysanthemum bloom in the sky is one of the biggest attractions of this fireworks show, and is a tribute to the stunning flowers in the park.

 

Colt Park

Colt Park is another Connecticut landmark that serves as a prime spot for viewing fireworks. The park was a gift to the city by Elizabeth Colt in honor of her husband, and the park is lined with elm trees as a memorial to the 189 men from Hartford who lost their lives in WWI.

 

In addition to these stunning fireworks shows, there are several other activities you can take advantage of in Connecticut to make your New Year's enjoyable. You can take a carousel ride at Bushnell Park or watch improve comedy from the Sea Tea troupe. Central Baptist Church in Hartford also provides a Mad Science HOLIDAZE Science show that is a delight for kids and parents alike.
